Funeral Flowers, Wreaths, Caskets Sprays & Tributes
Funeral tributes explained
Types of funeral flowers, and who usually sends them
Funeral flowers are tributes made for the service itself: on the coffin, beside it, or near a photograph or urn. Each type has its own place, and knowing which one suits you makes the choice much easier.
Casket spray
- Sent by
- Immediate family
- Placed
- On top of the coffin
- From
- $430
The centrepiece of the service. Ours is a half-casket spray of banksias, proteas and eucalyptus, which leaves room on the lid for a photo or a personal item.
Wreath
- Sent by
- Friends, colleagues, extended family
- Placed
- On an easel at the service
- From
- $115
The circle stands for eternal life and love. The most common tribute from people outside the immediate family, and the usual choice for a workplace or club.
Sheaf
- Sent by
- Family or close friends
- Placed
- On the coffin or at the graveside
- From
- $172
A flat, hand-tied bunch made to be laid down. Light enough for a family member to carry in and place during the service.
Tribute set
- Sent by
- Immediate family
- Placed
- Either side of the coffin, urn or portrait
- From
- $799
A matching pair of arrangements that frames the focal point of the service, so the eye rests on the person being remembered.
Urn and memorial arrangement
- Sent by
- Family or close friends
- Placed
- Beside an urn, portrait or memorial table
- From
- $99
For a cremation, memorial or celebration of life. Pot and vase arrangements can go home with the family afterwards.
Posy or bouquet to lay
- Sent by
- Anyone, often grandchildren
- Placed
- On the coffin or at the graveside
- From
- $64
A small, personal tribute. Deep red roses with a black ribbon read clearly as a farewell, not a romantic gift.
| Your relationship | Usual tribute | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Partner or children | Casket spray or tribute set | Agree on one casket spray as a family so they are not doubled up. |
| Grandchildren, siblings | Sheaf, posy or wreath | Grandchildren often send one tribute together, signed with every name. |
| Friends and relatives | Wreath or arrangement | Ask if the family has a colour theme before you choose. |
| Workplace, club or team | Wreath | Sign it from the organisation, for example “From all at [company]”. |
| Cannot attend | Sympathy flowers to the home | See our sympathy flowers for the family home. |
Ordering for a service
How to order funeral flowers so they arrive on time
Funeral flowers have one job: to be in place before the family arrives. These four steps make sure they are.
Check the funeral notice
Look for a colour theme, a preferred charity, or “no flowers by request”. If the family has asked for donations instead, follow their wishes.
Order a day ahead
Order the day before the service where you can, and earlier for a casket spray or tribute set. For a Saturday service, order by Friday.
Add the service details
In the order notes, give the date and start time, the venue name and address, the full name of the person, and the funeral director’s number if you have it.
We deliver before the service
Your flowers arrive 60 to 90 minutes before the service begins, and we send you a photo once they are delivered.
Same-day and short-notice orders
- Orders placed before 4 PM, Monday to Saturday, can be delivered the same day across Perth.
- For a same-day funeral, please contact us before ordering so we can confirm the service time is possible.
- We do not usually deliver on Sundays, so for a Monday morning service, order by Saturday.
Where we deliver
- Funeral homes, churches, chapels and cemeteries across 332 Perth suburbs, including services at Karrakatta, Pinnaroo Valley, Fremantle and Rockingham.
- Wreaths arrive without an easel stand. Most funeral homes have stands, but check with the funeral director for a church or hall.
- The delivery fee is calculated by distance and shown at checkout before you pay. See delivery information.
Flowers and meaning
Funeral flower meanings and colours
White remains the most traditional choice for a funeral, but many families now choose colour that reflects the person. If you are unsure, ask the family or the funeral director whether there is a colour theme.
White lilies
The flower most associated with funerals, a symbol of peace and the restored innocence of the soul.
White roses and chrysanthemums
Respect, reverence and remembrance. Chrysanthemums are the traditional mourning flower in much of Europe and Asia.
Red roses
Deep love and respect. Usually chosen by a partner or close family.
Yellow roses and gerberas
Friendship and warmth. A natural fit for a celebration of life or someone with a sunny nature.
Pastels and lavender
Gentleness and grace. Often chosen for a mother, grandmother or a younger person.
WA natives
Banksias, proteas and waxflower for someone who loved the bush or the garden. They are hardy and cope well with Perth heat.
Choosing by person
Funeral flowers for mum, dad and those closest to you
The best funeral flowers say something about the person. These pairings are a starting point.
For mum or nan
White lilies and roses, or soft pastels if she loved colour and her garden.
For dad or grandad
Funeral flowers for men tend to be stronger in shape: natives, red roses, or crisp white and green.
For a husband, wife or partner
The casket spray or a matching tribute set, often in the flowers you shared, such as red roses.
For a brother, sister or friend
A wreath or sheaf in a colour that suits their personality, from calm white to bright yellow.
From a workplace, club or team
A classic wreath, signed from the organisation, displayed on an easel at the service.
For a memorial or cremation
An arrangement to sit beside the urn or a photograph, which the family can take home.

Card messages
What to write on funeral flowers
A funeral card is different from a sympathy card. It is attached to the tribute at the service, so it is often written to the person who has died, while a sympathy card speaks to the family. Keep it to a line or two, and always add who it is from.
Signing the card
- From one person: “Love always, Sarah”.
- From a family: “From Peter, Anna and family”.
- From grandchildren: list every name, or “From all your grandchildren”.
- From a workplace: “From all at [company]”, so the family knows who sent it.
Keep in mind
- The family will read every card later, often more than once.
- Use the name the person was known by, such as “Nan” or a nickname.
- Only use religious wording if you know it reflects their faith.
To a mum or dad
Forever in our hearts, Mum. All our love, always.
Dad, thank you for everything. Rest easy. Love from all of us.
Mum, your love will stay with us every day. Until we meet again.
To a grandparent
Nan, thank you for all the cuddles, stories and love. We’ll miss you every day.
Grandad, you taught us so much. Forever loved, forever missed.
To a partner
My love, my best friend. Forever in my heart.
Together always in my thoughts. All my love, forever.
From friends
A dear friend, never forgotten. Rest in peace.
In loving memory of a wonderful friend. With love from [names].
Thank you for the laughs and the friendship. We’ll miss you.
From a workplace or club
With deepest sympathy from everyone at [company].
In fond memory of a valued colleague and friend. From all at [company].
Remembered with respect by all at [club name].
Faith and celebration of life
Rest in God’s peace. Forever in our prayers.
Celebrating a life well lived, and a person dearly loved.
Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
Tap Copy, then paste the message into the card message box at checkout. Replace anything in [brackets].
Customs and faith
Funeral customs to check first
Perth families come from many faiths and cultures, and not every funeral includes flowers. These are general guides. If you are unsure, the funeral director can tell you what the family would like.
Christian and Catholic
Flowers are welcome. Wreaths, sprays and crosses are common, and white is the usual choice.
Chinese
White and yellow chrysanthemums are traditional, and white wreaths are common. Avoid red, which is the colour of celebration.
Jewish
Flowers are not part of a traditional Jewish funeral. A donation, or food sent to the family afterwards, is the usual gesture.
Muslim
Burial usually happens very quickly and flowers are often not part of the service. Ask the family before sending anything.
Hindu
Flowers are part of the rites, usually arranged by the family. Check before sending a tribute of your own.
“No flowers by request”
If the notice says this, the family would rather you didn’t. A donation to their chosen charity is the respectful choice.
Questions
Funeral flowers FAQs
How far in advance should I order funeral flowers?
Order at least a day before the service where you can, and earlier for a casket spray or tribute set. Orders placed before 4 PM, Monday to Saturday, can be delivered the same day across Perth, but for same-day funeral orders please contact us first so we can confirm we can meet the service time.
When do you deliver funeral flowers to the service?
We deliver 60 to 90 minutes before the service begins, so the flowers are in place before the family arrives. Include the date and start time of the service, the venue name and address, and the full name of the person being farewelled in the order notes.
Where do you deliver funeral flowers in Perth?
We deliver to funeral homes, churches, chapels and cemeteries across 332 suburbs of the Perth metro area, including services at Karrakatta, Pinnaroo Valley, Fremantle and Rockingham. If the venue is outside the metro area, contact us before ordering.
Who should order the casket spray?
The casket spray is traditionally ordered by the immediate family, such as the partner or children, because it sits on the coffin itself. If you are a friend, relative or colleague, a wreath, sheaf or arrangement for the service is the usual choice. If you are unsure, ask the family or the funeral director first.
What is the difference between a wreath, a sheaf and a casket spray?
A wreath is a circular tribute, usually displayed on an easel at the service and often sent by friends, colleagues or extended family. A sheaf is a flat, hand-tied bunch that can be laid on the coffin or at the graveside. A casket spray rests on top of the coffin and is usually chosen by the immediate family.
Does a funeral wreath come with a stand?
No. Wreaths are delivered without an easel stand. Most funeral homes and chapels provide stands, but it is worth checking with the funeral director, especially for a church or community hall service.
How much do funeral flowers cost in Perth?
Our funeral range starts from $64 for a deep red rose bouquet with a black ribbon. Wreaths start from $115, most sit between about $120 and $250, our native casket spray starts from $430, and matching tribute sets run from $799. The delivery fee is calculated by distance and shown at checkout before you pay.
What should I write on a funeral flower card?
Keep it short. A funeral card is often addressed to the person who has died, such as “Forever in our hearts, Dad”, or to the family, such as “With deepest sympathy, from all at [company]”. Add your name or the names of everyone it is from. There are more examples in the card message section above.
Do you deliver funeral flowers on a Saturday or Sunday?
We deliver Monday to Saturday. For a Saturday service, order by Friday so the flowers arrive in good time. We do not usually deliver on Sundays, so for a Monday morning service, order by Saturday.
What happens to funeral flowers after the service?
It is up to the family. Some take wreaths and arrangements home, and others leave them at the graveside. Vase and pot arrangements are easy for the family to take home after the service.
Can I send funeral flowers if I cannot attend the service?
Yes. You can send a tribute to the service with a card in your name, or send sympathy flowers to the family home instead, which many families keep on display in the weeks that follow.
